Frequently Asked Questions
I heard the Yacht Club Community Park is going to be closed for 2 years for renovations. Is this true? If so, when is construction expected to begin and why are they closing the whole park?
In an effort to ensure the safety of the public, the City decided we must close the park’s facilities while the necessary improvements to the Yacht Club Community Park are under construction. The renovation involves demolition of structures, replacement of walkways, relocation of utilities and a lot of heavy construction and equipment. Trying to operate the facilities with such heavy construction taking place would present significant safety risks to our residents and visitors that we are not willing to accept. Therefore, the Yacht Club will close at the end of March 2022 for about 2 years
What kind of construction is being done at the Yacht Club?
The renovation of the Yacht Club involves replacing the seawalls, demolition of structures, replacement of boat slip walkways, relocation of utilities, and construction of a parking garage, and a lot of heavy construction and other improvements.
Will the Yacht Club Boat Ramps be closed during construction?
Yes, the boat ramps at the Yacht Club, as with all other park amenities will be closed for the duration of the construction project. Cape Coral’s four other public boat ramps (located at Horton Park, Rosen Park, Burnt Store & BMX Park) will be open for public use.
Will the Yacht Club Pool be closed during construction?
Yes, the Yacht Club Pool, like all park amenities will be closed for the duration of the construction project. Parks & Recreation staff members are currently working with Lee County Parks & Recreation and other local partners to provide a list of alternate locations for the public to use while the Yacht Club Pool is closed.
Will the entire Yacht Club Beach and Pier be closed during construction?
Yes, due to safety concerns, the entire Yacht Club Beach and Pier, as well as all other park amenities, with the exception of the Boathouse Restaurant, will be closed for the duration of the construction project.
Will the Yacht Club be available for private rentals during construction?
No, due to safety concerns, all park programs and private rentals will be suspended for the duration of the construction project.
Why is the Boathouse restaurant allowed to remain open & how will it be accessed?
The Boathouse restaurant is a private business and the City is working closely with the business owner to mitigate the impacts our construction will have on the business and it’s staff. It is the only facility scheduled to remain open during construction. Patron access will be limited to designated walkways that are clear of active project areas, and onsite parking will be limited.
Where can I get more information on the project timeline, costs, etc.?
A special Yacht Club Project website has been created to help keep the public informed on the progress of the project. The web address is www.CCYachtClub.com. On that website, you can also sign up to receive email updates about the project status and/or send specific questions to a special email address – CCYachtClub@capecoral.gov.
